At just 15 years old, Maame has to hawk firewood to cater for herself and her family.

No, she is not a teenage mother.

No, she did not choose to live this way.

She just happens to be in an unfortunate situation.

She has been orphaned by the dreaded HIV/AIDS.

She lost her parents to the virus and now the responsibility falls on her to work to support her education.

Unfortunately, (because it’s sad) and fortunately (because we can support), this happens to be the plight of a large number of students from Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Preparatory and Junior High School.

At the end of a school day, they return to a home without parents, love and basic needs.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Preparatory and Junior High School was founded in 2001 when a generous donation created a private institution solely for training needy children in the locality to attain the highest academic standards to continue climbing the ladder of education.
